About The Game

After coming out of beta, FoE, one of the top strategy games for the browser is now open to the world of gamers.

FoE is a 2D Flash game where city building strategies are incorporated as you manage a town, explore and conquer map areas, build your army and complete quests from Bronze Age to Industrial Age. Players will reminisce about Civilization or Age of Empires on this MMO browser strategy game.

One of the best features I love about FoE is that you actually have some “sense of direction” in this game. You get to build your town from scratch starting at the Bronze Age, and as time passes by, you get to upgrade your city till you reach Industrial Age. I really love the concept of bulding through historical “eras”.

It’s not just ordinary city building browser game, FoE also incorporates strategic campaigns. The game has turn based battles where you will need to train your army to conquer the map. The turn based battle is not as slow as most people would expect, since some of your units can travel quite a long distance from the starting point of the battle screen.

The battle mechanism isn’t all point and attack, you can upgrade your army by researching so that you can develop more advanced battle units, items and buildings. You can also compete with other players in Multiplayer Mode which is where the challenge and fun begins – but just to make sure, its’ better to complete single player campaigns first before charging to the multiplayer battlefield.

The only downside to this game is the time waiting you will need to accomplish something. Like Facebook games, you will need to collect resources from houses and as usual, to produce something, you will have to wait for the time it finishes. Some special buildings and items will require you to spend some real cash as well – though it’s not really necessary. This game is not recommended to players who cannot wait.

Graphics: Good Some gamers might not appreciate the simple graphics of the game, however, mature players will find the game attractive with its overall “mature feel”.

Sound: Good The music has an overall medieval feeling to it which fits the game very well, although I’m not quite sure if it changes as the “eras” change, still – the music is relaxing to listen to.

Playability: Good Gamers who simply love city building sim games will definitely enjoy this game. Players will enjoy a sense of accomplishment as they build their towns to a mega metropolis traveling from one era to the next. However, gamers who do not have the patience to wait will find this game very boring.

Pros: Great gameplay reminiscent of the classic city building games such as Age of Empires. Fun multiplayer turn based battle system. City management and economic skills provide challenge to the game.

Cons: Time based waiting times to accomplish some tasks. Not all items are free – may need to spend real cash. Not recommended to players who don’t have much patience.
